Introduction
BillyPay ("we", "our", "the app") is a bill-splitting mobile application. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
Information We Collect
Data stored locally on your device only:
- Display name and PromptPay/bank account number (entered by you for payment QR generation)
- Bill history (items, amounts, participants, merchant names)
- Group and contact names
- App preferences (theme, language, favorites)
Important: All of the above data is stored exclusively on your device using local storage. We do NOT transmit, upload, or store any of this data on external servers.
Data processed by third-party services:
- Receipt images: When you use the scan feature, your receipt photo is sent to Google Gemini API for text recognition (OCR). The image is processed in real-time and is not stored by us. Google's data handling is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
- Crash reports: We use Sentry to collect anonymous crash reports and performance data to improve app stability. This may include device type, OS version, and error stack traces. No personal data is included. Sentry's data handling is governed by Sentry's Privacy Policy.
- Anonymous usage analytics: We use PostHog to collect anonymous, aggregated product analytics to understand how features are used and improve the app. We only record anonymous events (for example, that a bill was completed or a scan limit was reached) along with non-identifying counts such as the number of people on a bill. We do not send your name, phone number, bank account details, merchant names, or any receipt contents. PostHog's data handling is governed by PostHog's Privacy Policy.
- Subscriptions (BillyPay Pro): If you purchase a subscription, the transaction is processed by Apple and managed through RevenueCat, which tracks your subscription status using an anonymous identifier. We do not receive your name, payment card, or Apple ID. Apple's and RevenueCat's data handling are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy and RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
